Anxiety & Perfectionism

Anxiety

Anxiety appears in many ways in teens and adults from generalized anxiety, phobias, social anxiety, panic attacks, and perfectionism in school and work. Anxiety treatment cannot be cookie cutter. My approach always starts with collaborative treatment to make you comfortable enough to want to approach the topics that are triggering anxious reactions?

I will always strive to meet you where you are each and every time we meet.

Perfectionism

Working with Perfectionism starts with understanding the driving force of the pressure and why you strive towards being "perfect". From understanding and compassion, we can work to challenge those high standards, reframe our approach to mistakes, bring awareness to how we treat ourselves and grow kindness towards ourselves in the process. Together, we can find ways to break the cycles that are contributing to high pressure, low periods of down time, and help you find joy in the imperfections of life.

Self Esteem & Body Image

Self Esteem

Self Esteem development is an important nurturing part of life's milestones and due to a number of outlets like school, work, social media, friends, or family our self esteem may be impacted and suffering.

My approach to building self esteem, confidence, and self assurance is finding your power within you and helping you notice and harness that until it feels more attainable and assessable. Through understanding when and how negative thoughts are showing up for you and identify coping strategies and therapeutic tools to assist with these beliefs.

Body Image

We live in a world where messages about our body and existence are fed to us through so many different avenues whether it be family, friends, peers, social media, or media in general. It is hard not to internalize that we should be looking to change a part of ourselves, that we aren't enough as we are, or that this diet will be the one that sticks.

You are not alone. Many people feel this way too and there are strategies to address they way you feel about your body and self worth. Some ways include understanding those feelings towards your body and their root cause, building tolerance and compassion with your body, and implementing strategies you find helpful in your personalized treatment. I approach treatment through a Health at Every Size(HAES) lens.
